El Caprice from Sweden

So, as I am on a search for my next El Camino, my friend pointed me to a Swedish market place called Blocket.se, which is an online marketplace for Swedish residents. Well, as we Finns live next to Sweden and we are educated in Swedish language, since Finland is bi-lingual country, we Finns use is to find stuff.

Now, I have to admit that I can't really speak nor read swedish that well, since last time I used it was in trade school, over 30 years ago.

Anyway, a friend showed me an El Camino that is for sale there and got me thinking of adding that to my search for the El Camino too. There were few candidates and then I come across this:

I mean it has the right idea, but...

And then I did a google image search El Caprice... and came across this car.info site.

Oh, man. Talk about butchering.

Buyers market 1970 El Camino

Since I last posted there weren't that many 1970 El Caminos for sale in Craigslist, but a few days ago I checked out and I noticed that there a bunch of them for sale right now.

Okay, this needs quite a lot work to do before I could take a cruise in the countryside. But $6000!

This really got me going, it's plain and basic looking. Not even trying to be the Clone. And not bad price either. $12000. I almost wanna take my friends offer for this one.

Okay, this isn't as good looking as the above one, but it has that... patina. And maybe something needs to be fixed and you know. Something little to fix.

Okay, now we skipped to a whole new level of El Caminos. $24000. I mean this would be great, hardly anything to fix, but something is a bit off. I really can't say what, but something.

Well, this is $1000 cheaper than previous, but this is a better one. I mean whole look feels like the right one, you know?

This has been for a sale quite awhile now, and I almost always mixed up with the previous one, since they look the same. But this is quite lot expensive, $27500.

Okay, this is stunning. Complete frame off restoration 14 years ago. And is in a dry climate so  minimal rust after that. Just like the $12000 El Camino, plain and basic, except this is done. But that $28000 price tag is hefty. Too nice for me, I guess.

Update 25th of the January:

I missed this one:

$30000, but that has it all, but the price is... well just about out of my budget.

What goes around comes around

So, I have this alert on this Finnish Nettiauto.com which alerts, once a week if there are any new or if some listing has something changed. As I opened the link in the email, there was this black with blue flames 1972 El Camino.

I had a vague memory that it had been for sale some time ago. And then I noticed it license plate and that rang the bell, but nobody answered. I couldn't remember why, that rings a bell, but as I posted that listing to my childhood friend whatsup-group, one friend remembered why that rings a bell. It was his previously owned El Camino. He had sold it back in 1995. And that El Camino was pristine condition. Now it has a kind of let go.

After a while friend shouted out that buy buy buy! But it's the wrong year. Although the price is kind of "right".
