I've asked quite few transport companies and prices were quite high when they knew that it is a project car and don't move by itself. Needing a second person to take too long to load was given reasons, but I got a number from the shipping company and when I called that person he said that price was in the 200-300€ range and it doesn't matter if it is a project car and doesn't move. The container arrived a month ago to the Finland and it took a few days to reach to a shipping company lot in the Hämeenlinna. After that it took about 3-4 days to be customs clearance and after I had paid the customs fee and taxes, it was ready to pick up. Now, then it became a quite long wait to find one that could deliver my El Camino from Hämeenlinna to my home. <p></p><p>When I found on trucking company that would do it, then it became trivial for trucking company to find the right date for pick-up and deliver it. Finally, we had a date, and yesterday I got the call from the trucking company that he has left my El Camino a nearby earth moving company lot, since he had used a trailer rig with a several other cars, he couldn't drive into my small yard. </p><p>I was so excited that I had to take a video when I was coming home from work that <a href="https://youtu.be/KWab3D_l0lg" target="_blank">I have my impression recorded at the first sighting..</a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz-7WjsSBvw2iaHQFUCfKq25xctiOjgQOzxPj6hrh1sXTmOHF76ob1tILCTk3HkHgVOF2Ny5Gw37BYTKBlpxiKr4YUcf0v1X7SqYdZXq9EJR14si0HhiM6pNkAmVyeHe7UOyKhEAa4U8UW8VTsd4kFLfXwVd5eJUrSDFlvHXOhJ2uUGtro8zisJnQu_w/s4032/2022-12-16%2020.36.06.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz-7WjsSBvw2iaHQFUCfKq25xctiOjgQOzxPj6hrh1sXTmOHF76ob1tILCTk3HkHgVOF2Ny5Gw37BYTKBlpxiKr4YUcf0v1X7SqYdZXq9EJR14si0HhiM6pNkAmVyeHe7UOyKhEAa4U8UW8VTsd4kFLfXwVd5eJUrSDFlvHXOhJ2uUGtro8zisJnQu_w/w400-h300/2022-12-16%2020.36.06.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>Then I had to take my dog for a walk and of course we went straight back to the El Camino.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7K8QcX4Unu2ChHDovusd3REd0Olkft-wqbn5a0hJte0OT3HzTCyI5mKyxGLhnRjefUoVPGCPb1S2Xkgav8Zv3t4D0SoZj-50zADmNfIzD4TBgtS780WtzzBya14eO2JBQeA2NTJFjuSC8tR5wwCNU5JxyyU0nhy-guSHoRM4t8SnzS70dKiKz0Lr3Rg/s4032/2022-12-16%2020.36.25.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7K8QcX4Unu2ChHDovusd3REd0Olkft-wqbn5a0hJte0OT3HzTCyI5mKyxGLhnRjefUoVPGCPb1S2Xkgav8Zv3t4D0SoZj-50zADmNfIzD4TBgtS780WtzzBya14eO2JBQeA2NTJFjuSC8tR5wwCNU5JxyyU0nhy-guSHoRM4t8SnzS70dKiKz0Lr3Rg/w400-h300/2022-12-16%2020.36.25.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>First things first. But then I read the description and not currently running, but still have the original engine block. Well, that can mean a whole lot of deals, but since there aren't picture about engine bay. We talked about what I am looking for and laid up all my thoughts about my situation. I am still split between 1969 or 1970 El Camino, but I got a few pointers from the guy and since the price won't be that much of a deal for me at least. I am not going too much in detail what's commissions and such are, but a ball park figure is, depending how far from L.A. harbour is the El Camino, about $1500-2000.</p><p>Only bad part is that due the current world situations, pandemic and war in Ukraine, shipping time are extended from the normal time. The current estimate is from four months to six months. And maybe more. Depends on so many things. Which means that if I "bought" El Camino now, I might have a slight chance to drive it in this driving season before the first snow falls in the later this year.</p><p>Another thing is that I have used Craigslist as my search tool for the El Camino in the US, but the Guy sends me a link to Facebook marketplace near him and there are plenty of choices too. As much as I hate the Facebook and other social media, I am intrigued to search that marketplace since there are also available El Caminos for sale. eBay was also discussed, but it is mostly over priced vehicles for sale.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDc_qlq4WAhDVKrl9ih4PNHIq4pRClH7PBOKZaX31QxfGmxrThOQVSoZxxpJ7VoyROT14rCwEKrDctsDsd0G1kE48fCbgyHJLgRabSBuwpys0pYCPvQlHw99uWkOpmnee7e5VTeGU-bH9FALbyjm2_Vuwrv9irxmRqNAe1u00_lvoB_8rqAz0qRPN_Lw/s1355/Screenshot%202022-04-05%20at%2011.34.33.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1355" data-original-width="1043" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDc_qlq4WAhDVKrl9ih4PNHIq4pRClH7PBOKZaX31QxfGmxrThOQVSoZxxpJ7VoyROT14rCwEKrDctsDsd0G1kE48fCbgyHJLgRabSBuwpys0pYCPvQlHw99uWkOpmnee7e5VTeGU-bH9FALbyjm2_Vuwrv9irxmRqNAe1u00_lvoB_8rqAz0qRPN_Lw/w308-h400/Screenshot%202022-04-05%20at%2011.34.33.png" width="308" /></a></div><br /><p>I think I am going to buy two El Caminos. One that I can drive and one that I can build the way I want it.</p><p>And I think I am leaning on getting 1969 El Camino to drive around and 1970 to build up, and maybe some day install that electric motor in it, that <a href="http://1970elcamino.blogspot.com/2021/11/ev-camino.html" target="_blank">I've been thinking about.</a></p>Mursuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15283270416628999840noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5040636748222402974.post-13660960432569287792022-03-13T18:23:00.001+02:002022-03-13T18:23:15.274+02:00Sunny drive<p> So I was driving around with my daily driver, Volvo today and the weather was great, sunny and warm. As I was driving around on those countryside roads, it reminded me time when I had my El Camino. It was great to drive window down and your elbow on the door, half in, half out. Feel the breeze in the hair and just drive on the open road.</p><p>I just can't have that in my Volvo, for one it was early spring so you don't really want to roll down your window and freeze your elbow, and neck and what not. Secondly, it hasn't got that feeling, what you got in an old classic car, not to mention the lack of V8 sound.</p><p>And as I was driving I caught myself thinking about how much expensive the gasoline is nowadays. Back when I had my El Camino it cost something around 1,7€ per litre, now it cost 2,3€ per litre. And 72 litres to fill up the El Camino was then 122€, now it would cost 165€, 43€ more, with that I could drive Volvo for 300 km more. I know that the next El Camino won't be my daily driver, but to enjoy those sunny day off on the road and gatherings. </p><p>Unless I can somehow convert El Camino as <a href="http://1970elcamino.blogspot.com/2021/11/ev-camino.html" target="_blank">EV Camino.</a></p><p>I checked the <a href="https://www.chevrolet.com/performance-parts/electrification" target="_blank">Chevrolet Performance's webpage</a> and saw this and I had to screen capture it and post it:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEi2_7uWb395iIH6OIlRA-oxbTC3zp5r-sC_N8tniVv5oSEwNhEgn0zeagOm-KitKJCPllJb-cH6X79NK9m_DfCcSpM6WbCAz05TpGXl-8jJF4xgwUeCD28d08GQ0A_CIBYP8LQBJ5-sYTL40FOWCeE6jYMXv3pZXpX5GC8kUx8WdJtzb3fXyQGQKS3mtw=s2082" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1202" data-original-width="2082" height="231" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEi2_7uWb395iIH6OIlRA-oxbTC3zp5r-sC_N8tniVv5oSEwNhEgn0zeagOm-KitKJCPllJb-cH6X79NK9m_DfCcSpM6WbCAz05TpGXl-8jJF4xgwUeCD28d08GQ0A_CIBYP8LQBJ5-sYTL40FOWCeE6jYMXv3pZXpX5GC8kUx8WdJtzb3fXyQGQKS3mtw=w400-h231" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>That's it for this post. </p><p>Have a great spring!</p>Mursuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15283270416628999840noreply@blogger.com0
